Hi please could you tell me how you can enter the show?

    Regards,
    Emma

Hi Emma and Sheena (and anyone else wondering),

Although I wrote this post I did it as someone who watches the show. I don't know how to take part in it. I reckon your best port of call would be the BBC website, they have a section which tells you about all the shows they are looking for contestants for. That said, I remember reading somewhere (the DTTB site, I think) that they weren't looking for anyone right now as future of the show wasn't decided. That may have changed by now. I hope that helps!

wow did she get to the venue?
  • Rachey · 10 months ago
People don't do this to get on TV, they do it because they want to get married, but can't afford to do it themselves!

Thanks for the information on how to apply for the show.

Don't agree with the comment that "Don’t Tell The Bride is the kind of programme only people who are desperate to appear on TV apply to take part in". What a load of nonsense. Not everybody has the money to marry at the moment and not everybody can rely on daddy footing the bill which I am confident the writer of this article has done or will be counting on in the future.
  • MartinSFP · 9 months ago
Thanks for the comment John. In the time since I wrote the article five months ago I have been contacted by quite a few people who are desperate to take part in the show to save money, so you are right there. Will they really be happy to hand over 'editorial control' of their big day like this though?

As for your assumptions about me, you're totally wrong. My fiancee and I are funding the wedding ourselves so please refrain from baseless assumptions in future.
  • Kate · 8 months ago
Baseless assumptions? Pot calling kettle methinks. You were the one who claimed this show was only for people desperate to get on TV... No wonder you ruffled John's feathers!
  • MartinSFP · 8 months ago
Touche! I'll admit I was deliberately provocative with that statement!
  • La la · 8 months ago
Totally agree with people going on the programme because they want to get married but do not have the money! Me and my partner are considering taking part because we really want to get married but have only just bought our 1st home which needs a lot of work so at this rate we'll never be able to save up for a wedding!

However I didn't realise that the wedding has to be organised in 2 weeks!

Me and my partner are currently in the last stages of auditions for the programme. We could not afford to get married without the help of the BBC as we have children and other financial considerations. This would be a dream come true for us both. I hope we do make it in to the next series. Good luck to anybody else that is trying to get on the show, and to those getting married this year. I would also like to point out that handing over editorial control to the production team is not what happens!! Think about it...I get £12k to plan the wedding entirely. The decisions are mine to make and all I hope is that things go smoothly and she doesn't do a runner on the day lol....

    Hi,

My partner and I would love to take part.

Can you please let me know what/how to do?

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Thanks Asmera
  • MartinSFP · 7 months ago
Hi Asmera, the producers of the show have posted full contact details for applying on the show near the top of this comment thread. Good luck!

I am an avid fan of the show, and watch every episode. I have also applied to be on the show, and actually, i have not just done because i am desperate to be on TV, the reason i have applied is because it will be a rare experience to be able to look back and see the planning of the most important day of my life portrayed from so many angles. I mean, photos and stills can only take you so far. Also, i dont mind admitting to anyone that yes, i am pretty skint, and the cash they offer wold help me to make my day bettter than i could afford otherwise. This might sound like i'm just in it for the money, but as you pointed out, the funds come from the TV lisecencing and, having paid my fees for well over 15 years, i have no trouble accepting them back. so perhaps you shouldnt be so quick to judge in the future, untill you have an explaination from an actual applicant?
As for your accusation about it being the BBC tampering with the arrangements for the wedding, i urge you you to look at it from this point of veiw.....why did the groom trust someone he doesnt know to deliver the dresses in the first place? Production team or not, he shoukd only let people he knows in to help. The rules say he has to organise and plan everything, but they dont indicate that at any point the BBC staff or ajoining team are there to help. GROOMS FAULT, NOT THE BBC. The cars, you say were sent away by the camera crew and told to come back later, making the bride late. Why was the driver listening to anybady except the man paying his bill? Hes been paid to turn up on time and collect her. He should not change that plan woth speaking to the groom personally. DRIVERS FAULT, NOT THE BBC. In the clip she was downright rude and aggresive on the phone, and quite frankly, wedding day or not, she acted like some spoilt brat in a tantrum. BRIDES ATTITUDE PROBLEM, NOT THE BBC.The guy on the end of the phone was trying to be diplomatic, bless him, but at the end of the day, with her been a bride from hell, what choice did her have? again, SPOILT BRAT BRIDE, NOT THE BBC. So perhaps, the way this show is prtrayed is all reltive to how you watch it? and although your own opinion is, as always valid, perhaps you should look into others before accusing the BBC of ruining peoles weddings?

Hi, I have just provided a Dove Release Service for one episode and I can say from an "outsiders" point of view that the wedding did have some delays and not everything went 100% to plan. But having done over 150 weddings in the last 2 years most of those had their scary moments too....all part of the day I suppose. However the end result was that 2 lovely people got the wedding of their dreams they maybe would have otherwise not have got, and the bride was totally delighted with the day overall and everyone seemed to have had a fantastic day. You have to take opportunities in life and getting married to your perfect partner is one that should be grabbed and cherrished - whether its on TV or not.

I have just doena show and married on 12th July, The BBC do not at all get involved in any way. All the mistakes are from the groom. It was a amazing experiance and will be on air in September

I absoloutly love this show, i'm always sat waiting for it to come on. My boyfriend thinks i'm potty but i can't get enough of the show. Would be good if there were an episode that didn't go as planned, but still love watching. I always dream of the perfect wedding but my boyfriend is anti marriage, but a girl can dream, i will work on him. lol.

    Hi......

I try to watch DTTB when it is on but sometimes i miss it due to working all the time.....myself and my fiance have arranged a date for our wedding for 19th march 2011 as we wanted our wedding day to be close to the date that we got together which was 18th march, but are now thinking of applying for the show as we are on a budget like most people who are getting married.......does anyone know if it would make a difference if the church is already booked, or would we have to start from scratch as the church we have booked is the church where we both want to get married. ?

This is absolutely unbeleiveable, yes fair enough things may be edited to appear better on t.v, but the end result is always good. to say that this show is only people who are desperate to be on t.v is digusting, this was probably only said by a stuck up singleton who has no clue of true love or the values of marriage. I have been with my partner for 7 years now and we have 2 fantastic children together, at the end of the day for normal working people £12,000 for a wedding is a hell of a lot and in many cases a dream. So i ask the people who want to vent their comments, before they do, think of others who the only way they could get married and have that sacred vow is by doing this. I am now paying of my wedding and beleive me it has cost less than £12,000, but if i could have the dream, i would do this. It's just pompus, jumped up people who have nothing else in their life (and if they come back and comment and say they have the perfect life, well basically they are lying or spoilt or have made abit of money and have forgotten how it is to be normal) Everyone all over the country, especially this year given everything that has happened and the hundreds of thousends job losses, if they are in love and want to be married then good luck to the. Alot of people feel this as very important to them (including myself) and to think the only thing stopping them making a life long commitment to someone they love is MONEY!!!!!!!!.
    Rant over xxxxxx

I must admit I only started to really watch the show when we got a call about providing our Doves for Wayne & Leanne's wedding in Bristol. My only disappointment of the whole series was that my beautiful birds only made an appearance for about 5 seconds! I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode and got really sucked in to the emotions demonstrated by each couple. Its not only good TV but it is very uplifting to see the lengths these couples will go to in order to give a dream day for each other and the people they all love. I cant wait for the next series and wish all the couples thta have appeard in my living room every Tuesday all the very best of health & happines! Lynne x
